Fisher-Price Joins Barbie, MEGA and Matchbox in Mattel PlayBack, a Toy Recovery Program Designed to Recover and Reuse Materials from Mattel Toys | Company

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT) today announced the expansion of its Mattel PlayBack program to now include Fisher-Price toys. Fisher-Price joins the Barbie, MEGA and Matchbox brands in the toy take-back initiative, which allows families to extend the life of their Mattel toys after they’ve finished playing with them.

The new program is designed to recover and reuse materials from past Mattel toys in future Mattel products, keep materials out of landfills, and support the company’s goal of achieving 100% recycled, recyclable, or bio-based plastic materials in its products and packaging in 2030.

Launching in the US, Canada, France, Germany and the UK in 2021, the company is celebrating the first anniversary of the Mattel PlayBack program, which will now include non-electronic Fisher-Price toys including Laugh & Learn, Little People, Imaginext brands, and more. The inclusion of the #1 property for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in World 1 extends the benefits of the program to even more consumers than ever before.

To participate in the Mattel PlayBack program, consumers can visit Mattel.com/PlayBack, print a free shipping label, package, and return their oversized Mattel toys to Mattel. Collected toys will be sorted and separated by type of material and treated and recycled responsibly. For materials that cannot be reused as recycled content in new toys, Mattel will recycle those materials into other plastic products or convert them from waste to energy.
