Hot Wheels x Gucci Cadillac Seville model by Mattel Creations

Gucci’s latest collaboration brings an Italian twist to an American classic. The Italian luxury house has concocted a model car – the Cadillac Seville, to be precise – in partnership with automotive toy experts Hot Wheels.

The miniature marks Hot Wheels’ first foray into fashion collaborations, as well as Gucci’s first official collectible model. Packaged in an elegant Gucci box, the Hot Wheels miniature captures the details of Gucci’s life-size Cadillac Seville in 1:64 scale.

Designed by Guccio Gucci’s son Aldo, the limited edition Gucci Cadillac Seville was first introduced in 1979. It featured a Gucci monogrammed top, Gucci hood ornament and a Gucci logo plated steering wheel. The interior of the ultra-luxury car featured a logo-printed glove compartment and monogrammed upholstery.

Those details are mostly recreated in this small version, right down to the whitewall tires and the patterned rear hood.

Since the launch of the Cadillac Seville by Gucci 42 years ago, the worlds of fashion and the automobile have not ceased to intersect.

Gucci then designed a limited-edition Fiat 500 and Fendi partnered with Maserati on a GranCabrio. This year, Aimé Leon Dore unveiled his very own Porsche 911 SC.

Gucci’s Hot Wheels collaboration is one of many projects celebrating the house’s 100th anniversary.

Along with its Balenciaga “hack”, the brand has also launched its own NFT, an online store featuring Gucci archives and, more recently, a series of “Gucci 100” pop-up stores.

We also have Ridley Scott Gucci House to look forward to on November 24, although the Gucci family is apparently not so excited about this one.

In the meantime, mark your calendars for October 18 at 9 a.m. PT — the Hot Wheels x Gucci Cadillac Seville will drop on the Mattel Creations website then. Pedal to the metal, because the collab is sure to sell out in a flash.
