Mattel hires Marielle Gelber to lead communications for Hot Wheels and Matchbox

MENLO PARK, Calif.: Mattel has hired Marielle Gelber as global brand communications and public relations manager for its Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Masters of the Universe and action figure brands.

Gelber took over the role last month and reports to Julia Jensen, vice president of global brand communications.

She was not immediately available for further comment.

Most recently, Gelber served as Global Director of Public Relations for MGA Entertainment between June 2021 and May 2022. Previously, she ran her own agency mg pr for six years, was Account Director at Sunshine Sachs and Director of Public Relations and marketing for New York & Company.

In August 2021, Danit Marquardt left her position as Vice President of Global Corporate Communications at Mattel to start a consulting firm. Later that year, she joined the Serta Simmons Bedding management team as Director of Communications.

In the second quarter, Mattel reported revenue of $1.2 billion, up 20% from the same quarter of 2021. The company posted a profit of $66.4 million in the quarter. after recording a loss of $5.5 million last year.
