General Mayhem began life on Roadkill like the empty shell of a 1968 Dodge Charger, minus a fender and all the bumper and grille parts. In what remains the longest time it has taken to film an episode of Roadkill, Mike Finnegan and David Freiburger pulled the big block Mopar 440 out of an old RV and shoved it into the loader along with a bunch of swap parts. The result was worth it, because the General Mayhem is pretty much everyone’s favorite car to come out of the series.

After a few years of perfect off-road bombing bliss, the Freiburger car could live its life Dukes of Hazzard dreams, Dodge came knocking with an offer Roadkill could not refuse. In 2015, Dodge was a sponsor of the show and wanted to put Richard Rawlings and the Gas Monkey Garage crew against Roadkill in a Hellcat-powered grudge match (they have a bit of a reputation for it), and the resulting race at the Silverdome in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is what became Roadkill Nights.

The reliable The 707hp Hellcat-swap turned General Mayhem from a fun worn out car you’re not afraid to do anything with to arguably the best burnout machine in the world. Roadkill fleet, but Freiburger always felt she was losing some of her magic. So he bought it from MotorTrend and put the 440 motorhome back there! With help from Steve Dulcich, the General Mayhem will also get suspension and chassis upgrades, and all of that can be seen this season from Road Kill Garage (but only if you subscribe to the MotorTrend app).
